How do you create a tool for real-time previsualization that is affordable, easy to apply in virtual production processes and at the same time effectively facilitates artistic collaboration and creative decision-making processes?
This session will introduce an innovative tool for real-time simulation to be used for visual concept development of cinematic works.
The system itself is based on game engines allowing directors, writers, cinematographers, set designers/builders, lighting supervisors and digital artists to create, manipulate, and interact with CG-environments and objects in real-time. The tool can be applied at an early stage of script development to form the narrative through visual feedback or used as a planning tool to efficiently prepare the shoot.
Since its first public presentation at the CILECT congress in Los Angeles in 2014 it has been successfully adopted for set design tests and VFX planning in feature films and has become an integral part of the students’ curriculum at the Stockholm Academy of Dramatic Arts.
