After seeing Epic’s much talked about collaborative LED Virtual Production demonstration, Chris Musselwhite and Paul Hamblin, Co-founder and Partner at UK based indie production company Treehouse Digital, thought “how do we do this on a tight budget?”
Three months after seeing the video on YouTube and with no prior game engine experience, they were filming a car crash, using LED screens, one gaming PC, a Vive puck and Unreal Engine, that would have taken months of planning and VFX to execute in any other way.
In this session Paul Hamblin and Chris Musselwhite will share their learnings from that project, including the creative and practical benefits and pitfalls of this approach; why they went the route of real-time virtual production; how they were able to achieve this with a minimal budget and how this changed their typical production constraints.
