PICTURE THIS

In a world of drastic disruptions, bankrupt productions, tsunamis of content and technological advancements, collaboration and knowledge sharing is what makes for a sustainable and resilient film industry. And PICTURE THIS provides industry stakeholders with the toolkit needed to persevere at the time of a global polycrisis.

Since its launch back in 2017, PICTURE THIS has strived to bring together film professionals from across the entire filmmaking supply chain to examine, discuss and present the technology that shapes how we develop and experience the motion pictures of tomorrow.

By showcasing works-in-progress and cutting edge technological developments, PICTURE THIS inspires filmmakers to work smarter and to increase innovation by pairing them with designers, scientists and technicians at the technological forefront who keep pushing the limits of digital filmmaking.

The one-day conference was launched and initiated by Nordisk Film Fonden as a direct response to severe disruptions across the film industry, and the National Film School of Denmark was quick to pounce on the idea and house and organize the conference.

This year, the eighth edition of PICTURE THIS makes history as the conference moves into the Royal Danish Library which can hold upwards of 400 people in the audience. This year’s conference takes place on the 24th of September.

PICTURE THIS is curated by film and media innovation strategist, tech entrepreneur and head of the innovation track – NEXT – at Marché du Film in Cannes, Sten-Kristian Saluveer.
