Jorge Caballero

Co-Founder, Artefacto

Jorge Caballero is an AI trailblazer. While pursuing a Ph.D, Jorge lectures on cinema and emerging tech at the Pompeu Fabra University, and he co-founded GusanoFilms and Artefacto, promoting critical and creative use of AI within cinema.

Jorge Caballero wears many hats. He is a lecturer at Pompeu Fabra University and the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona, where he leads workshops at the intersection of technology, cinema, and social impact.

He has also collaborated with the UN on impactful projects and has conducted studies on the potential of cinema to induce pro-social behavioral changes. He co-directs a postgraduate program in Cinema Algorithms and AI at the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona and is close to publishing a book on artificial imagination.

Additionally, Jorge is the co-founder of GusanoFilms and Artefacto. The former is a production company which develops and produces non-fiction films and explores the possibilities between documentary and technology through digital, interactive, and immersive formats.

His productions have been selected and awarded at international festivals such as HotDocs, SXSW, DocNYC, Mar del Plata, Cinema Du Reel, Visions Du Reel, Málaga, DocsBCN, among many others, and have received support from the Sundance Institute and the Tribeca Film Institute. As a director, Jorge Caballero has twice won the National Documentary Award in Colombia.
