Virtual Production has taken the Nordics by storm with the past year seeing new volumes and studios emerging across the region. What have been the enablers but also blockers for getting this new novel yet costly technology lifted off the industry at large, and what have been the key wins and failures from pioneering productions and ventures.
Martin Madsen, a veteran Danish VFX supervisor with the experience of more than 75 productions will present the case study of designing and developing just to be launched Nordisk Shortcut 360 degree VP studio. Focusing on creative and technical capabilities, Martin will showcase how the volume will push the limits of photo realism in VP and real-time lighting changes.
Mikko Kodisoja is the founder and CEO of Fireframe Studios, a virtual production company with an ICVFX stage in Helsinki. Mikko is a Finnish entrepreneur and investor who has founded several successful companies in the gaming industry, the last one being Supercell, the maker of Clash of Clans and Europe's first-ever decacorn. After 25 years in games, he decided to move over to the film industry to pursue his childhood dream. Mikko is a true believer of the real-time revolution where video game engines will have a fundamental impact on the moviemaker's workflow, transforming the creative process from linear to more iterative.
Mikko will discuss his vision on how his experiences building one of the world's best, most known, and financially successful game companies are paving the way to building a top-tier virtual production facility outside of Hollywood and major production centers. He will further explore why and what types of collaborations are needed between the film industry creatives, producers, and game industry and engine professionals.
